Solution :

We know that,

Opposite sides are equal in a parallelogram.

Therefore,

$3x+5 = 5x-1$

$5x-3x = 5+1$

$2x = 6$

$x = \frac{6}{2}$

$x = 3$.

The value of $x$ is 3.
