In School X 60 Students Appeared For 10 Class Exam Out Of Which 48 Students Passed. In Another School Y 35 Student Appeared And 30 students Passed. If The District Educational Officer Wants To Give An Award On The Basis Of Pass Percentage To Which School Will He Give An Award?

Given:  In School X 60 Students Appeared For 10 Class Exam Out Of Which 48 Students Passed

In Another School Y 35 Student Appeared And 30 students Passed

To find; Which school will be given an award on basis of percentage

Solution:

In school X, appeared = 60;  passed = 48

In school X, the pass percentage is

$\frac{48}{60} \times 100 = \frac{4}{5} \times 100 = 80%$

In school Y, appeared = 35;  passed = 30

In school Y, the pass percentage is

$\frac{30}{35} \times 100 = \frac{6}{7} \times 100 = 85.71%$

So the DEO gives award to school Y as its students have a higher pass percentage.
