In plants, nervous system is not present, then how do plants control and coordinate different activities?

Plants do not have a nervous system as animals. But they respond to stimuli by showing movements. Plants have chemical substances called plant hormones that control and coordinate the growth, development, and response to the environment.
Plant hormones are organic substances produced naturally in higher plants, which control the growth and other physiological functions at a different site far away from its point of secretion. These are required in small amounts.
