Given: In a test, +2 marks are given for a correct answer and -1 mark for an incorrect answer

Pavani scored 30 marks in the test and she had got 18 correct answers

To find: How many of Pavani's answers were incorrect

Answer

Correct answer = $+$2 marks

Incorrect answer = $-$1 marks

Pavani scored 30 marks

Number of correct questions by Pavani = 18

Let the number of incorrect questions by Pavani = $y$

Score of Pavani = $18 \times 2 + y x - 1 = 30$

$36 - y = 30$ or $y = 36 - 30 = 6$; $ y = 6$

The number of incorrect questions by Pavani = 6
