Given :

The number of boys in the class = 15

The number of girls in the class = 5

Total number of students in the class = $15+5=20.$

Given that 1 child is absent.

To find :

We have to find the probability of a boy being absent

Solution :

The probability of a boy being absent = $\frac{Total number of boys}{Total number of students}=\frac{15}{20}=\frac{3}{4}.$

The probability of a girl being absent = $\frac{Total number of girls}{Total number of students}=\frac{5}{20}=\frac{1}{4}.$

Therefore, the probability that he/she is a boy is  $\frac{3}{4}.$
