If the integers $12,-6,8,-5,7,-4,$ and $3$ are marked on the number line, the one that comes on the extreme left is:
(a) 12 (b) $-4$ (c) 7 (d) $-6$.

Given :

The given numbers are $12,-6,8,-5,7,-4$ and $3$.

To do :

We have to find which of the given numbers will come on the extreme left on the number line.

Solution :

We know that negative numbers lie to the left of 0 on the number line and positive numbers lie to the right of 0.

$-6,-5$ and $-4$ lie to the left of 0.

On the number line, smaller numbers lie to the left of larger numbers.

In negative numbers, the number with a larger numerical value is smaller than the number with a smaller numerical value.

Therefore,

$-6$ is the smallest number at $-6,-5$ and $-4$.

The number that comes on the extreme left is $-6$.

Therefore, option (d) is correct.
