If the cost of fencing a square plot at the rate of $2.50$ per metre is $200$, then find the length of each side of the field.
Given:
The cost of fencing a square plot at the rate of $2.50$ per metre is $200$.
To do:
We have to find the length of each side of the field.
Solution:
Let the length of each side of the square plot be $x$.
This implies,
The perimeter of the plot $=4\times x=4x$
Rate of fencing per metre $=Rs.\ 2.50$
This implies,
Cost of fencing the square plot of perimeter $4x = Rs.\ 2.50\times4x$
$=Rs.\ 10x$
Therefore,
$10x=200$
$x=\frac{200}{10}$
$x=20$
The length of each side of the field is $20\ m$.
