If an angle is one-third of its complement, find the angle.

Given:

One angle is one-third of its complement.

To do :

We have to find the angle.

Solution :

Let one angle be x.

This implies,

The other angle is $90-x$

Therefore,

$x = \frac{1}{3} (90-x)$

$3x = 90-x$

$3x+x = 90$

$4x=90$

$x = \frac{90}{4}$

$x = 22.5$.

Therefore, the angle is 22.5°.
