If a shopkeeper marks the price of goods 50% more than their cost price and allows a discount of 40% , what is his gain or loss percent

Given :

A shopkeeper marks the price of goods 50% more than their cost price and allows a discount of 40%.

To do :

We have to find the gain or loss percent.

Solution :

Let the cost price of goods be Rs. 100

A shopkeeper marks the price of goods 50% more than their cost price.

So, the marked price will be Rs. 150.

Discount $=40 \%$

This implies,

SP $=60 \%$ of 150

$=\frac{60}{100}\times150$

$=90$

CP $=100$

SP $=90$

Loss $= 100-90=10$

Loss $ \% = \frac{10}{100}\times100$

$= 10 \%$

His loss percent is $10 \%$.
