If a = 2 and b = 3 , find the value of
1. $a + b$
. $a^{2} + ab$
3. $ab - a^{2}$
4. $2a - 3b$
5. $5a^{2} - 2ab$
Given :
a = 2 ; b = 3
To do:
We have to find the values of given expressions.
Solution:
1. $a+b = 2 + 3 $
$ a + b = 5 $
2. $a^{2} + ab = 2^{2}+ 2\times3$
= $ 4 + 6$
$a^{2} + ab = 10$
3. $ab - a^{2} = 2\times3 - 2^{2}$
= $6 - 4$
$ab - a^{2} = 2$
4. $2a - 3b = 2\times2 - 3\times3$
= $4 - 9$
$2a - 3b = - 5$
5. $5a^{2} - 2ab = 5\times2^{2} - 2\times2\times3$
= $5\times4 - 12$
= $20 - 12$
$5a^{2} - 2ab = 8$.
