If 3 students sit on each of the 16 benches in a class and 4 students are left standing, how many students are there in the class?
Given: 3 students sit on each of the 16 benches in a class and 4 students are left standing.
To do: To find the total number of students.
Solution:
Number of benches in the class room$=16$
Number of students sitting on each bench$=3$
Number of students who sit on benches$=16\times3=48$
Number of students standing$=4$
$\therefore$ Number of students in the class$=Total\ no.\ of\ students+No.\ of\ standing\ students$
$=48+4$
$=52$
Thus, Total number of students in the class$=52$
