How would you separate iodine from a mixture of iodine and common salt?
To separate iodine from a mixture of iodine and common salt by the process of sublimation.
- In the process, iodine sublimes on heating, whereas salt does not.
- Salt has a melting point higher than that of iodine. Therefore, a mixture of iodine and sodium chloride can be separated by using a sublimation apparatus, where solid iodine is collected by condensation of the mixture.
