How to split middle term of a quadratic expression?

Solution:

Steps:-

1. Multiply the coefficient of the x-squared term by the constant to get a number.

2. Then we will find two numbers whose sum is equal to middle term, and product is equal to the product of the coefficient of the x-squared term by the constant to get a number.

3. Then split the x-term between these two numbers, group them, and factor them.

For example:-

$x^2+5x+6$

$=x^2+3x+2x+6$

$=x( x+3)+2( x+3)$

$=( x+2)( x+3)$
