How to compare quantities?

Comparing quantities:

• To compare means to examine the differences between the quantities.
• To decide if a quantity is greater than, smaller than, or equal to another quantity.
• By comparing, we can find how much a quantity is greater or smaller.

For example,

Compare 5 and 2.

5 is greater than 2 by $(5-2=)3$.
