How to classify materials?
Materials are generally split into four main groups: metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites.
Metals are materials like iron, steel, nickel, and copper.
Polymers include nylon, polyethylene, polyester, Teflon, and epoxy
Both pottery and ceramic are general terms that describe objects which have been formed with clay
A composite is a material made from two or more different materials that, when combined, are stronger than those individual materials by themselves
