How resistance resist electric current ?

Electric current is produced by the continuous flow of electrons. In conducting materials electrons are free to move.

All the materials won't allow the electrons to flow freely. It entirely depends on the material through which electrons pass. Especially, in non-conducting materials electrons are not free to move. So here the materials are not allowing the electrons to move freely. Thus the resistance resists the electric current.
