How electricity is supplied to homes?

The electricity is supplied to homes, in the following ways:-

1. Electricity is made at a generating station by using huge generators, and the generating stations can use coal, natural gas, wind, or water.

2. The current is sent through transformers to increase the voltage so that power can be pushed to long distances.

3. The electrical charge flows through high-voltage transmission lines that are stretched across the country.

4. It reaches a substation, where the voltage is reduced so that it can be sent over smaller power lines.

5. It travels through distribution lines to our neighbourhood, where smaller transformers reduce the voltage again so that we can use the power in our homes safely. These smaller transformers may be mounted on the poles or on the ground.

6. It connects to our houses and passes through a meter box that measures how much power is consumed by the family.
