How does the sperm enter the female reproductive system as the sperm is released in males?

During sex, the male ejaculates and an amount of semen deposited into the vagina.

Semen contains millions of sperm and they swim up from the vagina through the cervix and uterus to meet the egg in the fallopian tube.

After ejaculation, sperm can survive inside the female body for around 5 days. Only one sperm fertilizes the egg.
