How can we reduce soil erosion?
Soil Erosion is the removal of the upper fertile layer of the soil (topsoil) by strong wind and flowing water.
Prevention of soil erosion can be done by :
- Afforestation is large scale planting in place of cut down forests.
- Avoiding overgrazing of grasslands.
- Terrace farming and other better farming methods in hilly areas.
- Creating mass awareness to reduce deforestation for industrial purposes.
- Reforestation of plants.
- Helping the local people to regenerate the degrading forests.
