How can we change an improper fraction into a mixed fraction?

A fraction or a decimal number is a number lying between zero and 1 or between $-$1 and zero

OR The numbers that have an absolute value less than one are known as fractions or decimals.

Fractions: A fraction is just another way of expressing division. The expression $\frac{12}{17}$ is exactly the same thing as 12 divided by 17. $\frac{a}{b}$ is 'b' divided by 'b'.

Fractions can also be expressed as Part/Whole. Numerator and Denominator In a fraction, $\frac{x}{y}, x$ is known as the numerator, and $y$ is known as denominator.

Proper fractions are fractions like $\frac{x}{y}$ where $x < y$;

Proper fractions cannot be changed into Mixed fractions as their value is always between 0 and 1 or between $-$1 and 0.

Improper fractions are fractions like $\frac{x}{y}$ where $x > y$.

Mixed fractions have a whole number part and a fractional part for example $3 \frac{1}{2}$ where 3 is the whole number part and $\frac{1}{2}$ is the fractional part ONLY IMPROPER FRACTIONS CAN BE CONVERTED INTO MIXED FRACTIONS

For example $\frac{11}{5} = 2 \frac{1}{5}$ To convert an improper fraction into mixed fraction division is carried out and the quotient becomes the whole number part and the ratio of the remainder and the divisor becomes the fractional part When 11 is divided by 5, 2 is the quotient and 1 is the remainder. So the whole number part is 2 and fractional part is $\frac{1}{2}$.
