How and why soil gets acidic?

There are four major reasons for soils to become acidic: rainfall and leaching, acidic parent material, organic matter decay, and harvest of high-yielding crops

If soil is too acidic, it creates deficiencies in the available supply of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium. These are important macronutrients that plants need in high amounts to survive and grow.
