Give one example each of a chemical reaction showing the following characteristics.a. Evolution of a gas.b. Change of colour.c. Formation of precipitate.d. Change of state from liquid to gas.e. Change of state from gas to liquid.

Chemical reactions showing the following characteristics are:

a. Evolution of a gas: Mg +H2SO4 --> MgSO4 +H2.

b. Change of colour:  When Iron nails are placed in copper sulphate solution, the blue colour of Copper Sulphate solution changes to green. This is due to the displacement of copper by iron as copper gets deposited on top of iron nails.

The equation is given as Fe + CuSO4 (blue) --> FeSO4 (green) + Cu.

c. Formation of precipitate: Equation For The Solution Barium Chloride And Sodium Sulphate In Water React To Give Insoluble Barium Sulphate And The Solution Of Sodium Chloride; BaCl2 + Na2SO4 --> BaSO4  (ppt) + 2NaCl.

Double decomposition takes place, and a white precipitate of barium sulphate will be formed. BaSO4 is insoluble in water. The soluble NaCl remains in solution.

d. Change of state from liquid to gas: When water is heated, it gives off two gas, oxygen and hydrogen.

the equation is given as: 2 H2O (l) → 2 H2 (g) + O2 (g).

e. Change of state from gas to liquid: On the cooling of water vapour, liquid water is formed.

The equation can be given by H2O (water vapour) --> H2O (liquid).
