From a cloth of 5 m long, a piece of length 2 m 85 cm is cut off. What is the length of the remaining piece?
Given :
Total length of the cloth = 5 m
A piece of length 2 m 85 cm is cut off.
To find :
We have to find the length of the remaining cloth.
Solution :
We know that,
$1 m = 100 cm$
$The \ length \ of \ the \ remaining \ piece = Total \ length \ - \ Length \ cut \ off$
$ = 5 m - 2 m 85 cm$
$ = 5\times100 cm - (2\times100+85) cm$
$= (500-285) cm$
$= 215 cm$
$= (200+15) cm$
$= 2 m 15 cm.$
The length of the remaining piece is $2 m 15 cm$.
