Fossil fuels are energy rich compounds of an element X which were originally made by the plants with the help of sun's energy.

Explanation
Fossil fuels are formed by the decomposition of dead living organisms (plants & animals) deep inside the earth's surface over millions of years.
The three major forms of fossil fuels are:- coal, oil and natural gas. The organic root of fossil fuels shows the presence of carbon, but there are also some other elements which are components of fossils fuels, and they are- hydrogen, sulfur, nitrogen and oxygen.
