For every 52 students, 2 teachers are appointed. How many teachers should be appointed, if a school has 494 students?

Given :

For every 52 students, 2 teachers are appointed.

Number of students in the school = 494.

To find :

We have to find the number of teachers to be appointed.

Solution :

The ratio of students to teachers is $52:2=26:1$  Let the number of teachers to be appointed be x.

This implies,

$26:1 = 494:x$

$\frac{26}{1} = \frac{494}{x}$

$x = \frac{494}{26}$

$x = 19$

130=x4620x=4620×130   (Cross multiplication)x=154

Therefore,

The number of teachers to be appointed is 19.
