Find the ratio of the following:

(a) 30 minutes to 1.5 hours

(b) 55 paise to Rs. 1

The given terms are (a) 30 minutes to 1.5 hours and (b) 55 paise to Rs. 1.

We have to find the ratio of the given terms.

Solution :

(a) 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

We know that,

$1\ hour = 60\ minutes$

$1.5\ hours = 1.5\times60\ minutes=90\ minutes$

This implies,

$30\ minutes : 1.5\ hours = 30\ minutes : 90\ minutes = 1:3$.

Therefore, the ratio of 30 minutes to 1.5 hours is 1:3.

(b) 55 paise to Rs. 1.

We know that,

$Rs. 1 = 100\ paise$

This implies,

$55\ paise : Rs. 1 = 55\ paise : 100\ paise = 11:20$.

Therefore, the ratio of 55 paise to Rs. 1 is 11:20.
