Using distributive property:

$99999 \times 9999 = 99999 \times ( 10000-1 )$

Applying distributive property to right hand side becomes

$( 99999 \times 10000 ) - ( 99999 \times 1 )$

$999990000 - 99999$

Therefore, the product is $999890001$
