Distributive property of multiplication over addition:

$a\times (b+c) = a\times b + a\times c$

1009 can be written as $1000+9$.

Therefore,

$1009 \times1392 = (1000+9) \times 1392$

                       $= 1000\times1392 + 9\times1392$

                        $= 1392000 +(10-1) \times 1392$

                       $=1392000+10\times1392-1\times1392$

                       $= 1392000+13920-1392$

                       $= 1404528$

So, the value of $1009 \times1392$ is $1404528$
