The number which is 1 less than a number is known as its predecessor. 

For example, the predecessor of 10 is 9.

The predecessor of 5555 is 5555 - 1 = 5554

The number which is 1 more than a number is known as its successor. 

For example, the successor of 10 is 11.

The successor of 5555 is 5555 + 1 = 5556
