Find the mid point of the line segment joining the points $( 0,\ 0)$ and $( 2,\ 2)$.

Given: A line segment joining the points $( 0,\ 0)$ and $( 2,\ 2)$.

To do: To find the mid point of the line segment.

Solution:

Given points of the line segment are: $( 0,\ 0)$ and $( 2,\ 2)$

Here $x_1=0,\ y_1=0,\ x_2=2$ and $y_2=2$.

Therefore, mid-point of the line segment $P=( \frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\ \frac{y_1+y_2}{2})$

$\Rightarrow P=( \frac{0+2}{2},\ \frac{0+2}{2})$

$\Rightarrow P=( \frac{2}{2},\ \frac{2}{2}$

$\Rightarrow P=( 1,\ 1)$

Thus, the mid-point of the line segment is $( 1,\ 1)$.
