Factorise  $16x^{4}-4x^{2}+4x-1 ?$

Given: The polynomial $16x^{4}-4x^{2}+4x-1$

To do: To factorise the given polynomial.

Solution:

$16x^4–(4x^2–4x+1)$

$=16x^4-(2x-1)^2$

Now using $a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)$

$(4 x^2)^2-(2x-1)^2$

$=(4x^2–2x+1)(4x^2+2x-1)$
