Explain why it is easier to stop a truck on the road than to stop a ship in the water.
It is easier to stop a truck on the road than to stop a ship in the water due to friction between the truck tires and the road. The friction force opposes the motion of any moving object, and on applying brakes friction get increases as tires stop rolling and start dragging.
Whereas the ship floats in the water, where there isn't any friction force, rather it is resisted by the drag force of water and air. Therefore, it is not easy to stop a floating ship in comparison to the truck.
