Explain why:
(a) a pencil will write on paper but not on glass.
(b) climbing a greasy pole is very difficult.

(a). When a pencil made of graphite is moved on paper, the rough surface of paper offers friction which results in some tiny pieces of graphite come the paper and we get enabled to write. While writing over a glass, the smooth glass surface does not offer friction so we find it unable to write.

(b). On a greasy pole the feet of climbers can't have a firm grip over it as there is not enough friction. And the climber gets slipped again and again due to lack of friction and grip.
