Explain the properties of Kite and Trapezium.

Kite:

A kite is a quadrilateral that has 2 pairs of equal-length sides and these sides are adjacent to each other.

Properties of Kite:
  • The two angles are equal where the unequal sides meet.
  • The diagonals are perpendicular.
  • The longer diagonal bisects the other diagonal.
  • A kite is symmetrical about its main diagonal.
  • The main diagonal bisects a pair of opposite angles.
  • The shorter diagonal divides the kite into 2 isosceles triangles.
Trapezium:

A trapezium is a quadrilateral with one pair of opposite parallel sides.

Properties of Trapezium:
  • One pair of opposite sides are parallel.
  • Two pairs of adjacent angles add up to 180 degrees.
  • The two non-parallel sides are unequal.
  • The diagonals intersect each other.
  • The line joining the mid points of the non-parallel sides is parallel to the parallel sides and is equal to half the sum of the parallel sides.
