Explain the meaning of sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s). Give two examples of STD’s each, caused due toi. bacterial infectionii. viral infection.State in brief how the spread of such diseases may be prevented.
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that are transmitted from an infected person to an uninfected person through sexual contact.
The two examples of sexually transmitted diseases caused by
(i) virus: AIDS (HIV) and hepatitis.
(ii) bacteria: Chlamydia and gonorrhea.
The transmission of STDs can be prevented by avoiding sexual contact with an infected person. It can also be prevented by using physical barriers type contraceptive devices such as condom while having sex.
