Explain the difference in sedimentation and decantation.

Sedimentation - Sedimentation is the process in which heavier particles of an insoluble solid settle down in a liquid. It is a process by which one can separate mixtures of substances.

Example: we can remove sand from water through the process of sedimentation.

Decantation is the process of pouring out the liquid without disturbing the sediment.

Example: sand and water.
