Explain polygon and its types.

Polygon :

A polygon is a closed plane or two-dimensional figure whose sides are straight line segments. A polygon can have any number of sides. The simplest polygon is a triangle that has three sides. A polygon is named depending on the number of sides it has.

  • A quadrilateral is a four-sided polygon. A pentagon has five sides and so on.
  • A polygon has vertices, sides, angles, diagonals, and so on.

  • A regular polygon has equal sides and equal angles. The following is an image of regular polygons.

Convex Polygon: A polygon is convex if it contains all the line segments connecting any pair of its points. For example, a regular pentagon is convex.

Concave Polygon: A polygon that is not convex is said to be a concave polygon. The pentagon in figure B is a concave polygon.
