Explain Motion.

Motion is the phenomenon in which an object changes its position or orientation from with respect to a frame of reference over time.

It can be described in terms of distance, displacement, acceleration, velocity, speed and time.

For example:- pushing a block, opening a door, rotating stone with attached thread etc.

There are 4 types of motion-

1) Rectilinear motion

It is nothing but a movement of an object in a straight path. For example, march past soldiers in a straight path.

2) Circular motion

It is the motion of an object in a circular path. For example, the motion of the earth around the sun, the motion of a bike along a curved path, etc.

3) Rotational motion

It is the rotation of an object around its own axis. For example, the rotation of the earth on its own axis, the rotation of a spinning top, etc.

4) Periodic motion

The to and fro motion of a body about its mean position is called periodic motion. For example, the motion of a simple pendulum.
