Explain Mode, Median, and Range.
SOLUTION:
Mode:
The mode is simply the number which appears most often.
For example in the data set 1,7,5,3,1,3,7,3
1 is repeated 2 times
7 is repeated 2 times
5 is repeated 1 time
3 is repeated 3 times
3 is repeated most number of times
So the mode is 3
Median:
Median is middle number. A median can be calculated by writing all numbers in ascending order and then locating the middle number.
For example consider the numbers {2,5,8,11,16,21,30} .
To calculate median, they are arranged in ascending order 2,5,8,11,16,21,30.
The middle number is 11 .
So, the median is 11
Range:
Range is the difference between lowest and highest values.
Here, Range = 30 - 2 = 28
