Explain Kingdom Monera.

The characteristics of Kingdom Monera are as follows:

1.    Organisms of Monera family are present in hot or thermal springs, deep ocean floor, under ice, in deserts, inside or outside of the body of plants and animals.

2.    Few Monerans are autotrophic while some others have heterotrophic, saprophytic, parasitic, symbiotic, commensalistic, and mutualistic modes of nutrition.

3.    Rigid cell walls are present in some organisms, while some do not have rigid cell wall.

4.    Membrane bound nucleus is absent in Monerans.

5.    Locomotion occurs with the help of flagella.

6.    Circulation is through diffusion.
