Hydrochloric acid or muriatic acid is a colorless, water-based, inorganic chemical system with the formula hydrogen chloride (HCl) . It has a special pungent smell.
It is the main component of gastric acid , an acid produced naturally in the human stomach that helps to digest food.
It is also classified as strongly acidic and can attack the skin over a wide composition range.
