Solution:

We know that,

$(a+b)^3=a^3 + b^3 + 3ab(a+b)$

$(a-b)^3= a^3-b^3-3ab(a-b)$

Therefore,

$(98)^3 = (100 - 2)^3$

$= (100)^3 - (2)^3 - 3 \times 100 \times 2(100 - 2)$

$= 1000000 - 8 - 600 \times 98$

$= 1000000 - 8 - 58800$

$= 941192$

Hence, $(98)^3 = 941192$.
