Does rolling friction depend upon surface area ?


Yes, rolling friction depends on the area of contact between the two surfaces. For example, a rubber tire will have higher rolling friction on road than a steel wheel of a Train on a steel rail have. This is because the rubber is easily deformed and the area of contact increases. This creates more friction
