Divide 20 pens between Sheela and Sangeeta in the ratio of 3:2.
Given :
The number of pens $=20$
To do :
We have to divide the pens between Sheela and Sangeeta in the ratio of 3:2.
Solution :
Sheela got 3 parts of the total number of pens and Sangeeta got 2 parts of the total number of pens.
Total number of parts $=3 + 2 = 5$
The number of pens Sheela gets $= \frac{3}{5} \times 20$
$ = 3 \times 4 = 12$
The number of pens Sheela gets $= \frac{2}{5} \times 20$
$ = 2 \times 4 = 8$
Therefore, the number of pens divided between Sheela and Sangeeta is 12:8.
