Discuss the conservation of momentum in each of the following cases:(i) a rocket taking off from ground.(ii) flying of a jet aeroplane.

(i). When a rocket takes off from the ground, inside the rocket engine the mixture of gases starts burning, result in it produces a high blast velocity, which results in the very large momentum downwards when the hot gases pass out through the tail nozzle of the rocket. For balancing this large momentum the rocket moves upward.

(ii) In a jet-aeroplane, by the combustion of fuel gases, a large volume of gas produces a large momentum due to high velocity when the gases pass out through a jet in the backward direction, in result the equal and opposite momentum is imparted to the jet-aeroplane and the jet-aeroplane moves in forward direction with a high speed.
