Differentiate between absorption and assimilation.
The differences between absorption and assimilation are as follow:-
Absorption | Assimilation |
1. It is the process of taking digested food into the blood vessels via intestinal villi and microvilli. | 1. It is the process of synthesizing new compounds from the absorbed molecules. |
2. It takes place in the small intestine. | 2. It takes place in the liver. |
3. During this process nutrients are added to the bloodstream or lymphatic system. | 3. During this process nutrients are taken out from the bloodstream for assimilation. |
