Define the following and give examples.(i) factor (ii) multiple.

• If a number (dividend) is exactly divisible by any number (divisor), then the divisor is a factor of that dividend. Every number has a common factor that is one and the number itself.
• Example :

Factors of 10 are 1,2,5 and 10.

Factors of 12 are 1,2,3,4,6 and 12.

• A multiple of a number is a number that is the product of a given number and some other natural number. In simple words, Factors are what we can multiply to get the number. Multiples are what we get after multiplying the number by an integer.
• Example :

 Multiples of 10 are 10,20,30,...

 Multiples of 12 are 12,24,36,....
