Cost of dozen bananas is Rs. 36 and cost of 7 oranges is Rs. 28. Find the ratio of a banana to the cost of an orange.
Given:
Cost of 12 bananas$=Rs.\ 36$.
Cost of 7 oranges$= Rs.\ 28$.
To do:
We have to find the ratio of a banana to the cost of an orange.
Solution:
Cost of 1 banana $=Rs. \frac{36}{12}=Rs. 3$
Cost of 1 orange $=Rs. \frac{28}{7}=Rs. 4$
Ratio of cost of a banana to the cost of an orange$=Rs.\ 3: Rs.\ 4$.
The required ratio is 3:4.
