Consider the statement: Ratio of breadth and length of a hall is $ 2: 5 $. Complete the following table that shows some possible breadths and lengths of the hall.
Breadth of the hall(in meters)10
40
Length of the hall (in meters)2550
"

Given:

The ratio of breadth and length of the hall is $2:5$.

To do:

We have to complete the given table that shows some possible breadths and lengths of the hall.

Solution:

We have,

The ratio of breadth and length of the hall is $2:5$.

Let the breadth of the first blank be $'b'$

Therefore,

The ratio of the breadth to the length of the hall $=\frac{b}{50}$

This implies,

$\frac{b}{50} = \frac{2}{5}$

$b=\frac{50\times2}{5}$

$=\frac{100}{5}$

$=20\ m$

Let the length of the second blank be $'l'$

Therefore,

The ratio of the breadth to the length of the hall $=\frac{40}{l}$

This implies,

$\frac{40}{l}=\frac{2}{5}$

$l=\frac{40\times5}{2}$

$=\frac{200}{2}$

$=100\ m$
