Cactus is an autotrophic plant. Give a reason.

Cactus is a xerophytic plant (a species of plant that has adaptations to survive in an environment with little liquid water).

Cactus is an autotrophic plant because, their stem is modified into a flat, green, fleshy structure, that contains abundant chloroplasts that help to perform photosynthesis and also acts as a storage of water.

The leaves of the cactus plant are modified to spines which helps in reducing transpiration.
